Cindy Sherman

City Gallery Wellington

In 2000, Cindy Sherman returned to photographing and manipulating her own image after a decade of absenteeism. The exhibition at City Gallery Wellington showcases the seven major art series she created after returning to the art form. Sherman investigates a range of new and troublesome 'types' (socialites, fashion victims, clowns), and the series includes the collaborations she did with Balenciaga and Chanel. The exhibition shows the way that Sherman has embraced digital technology to alter the way she makes and presents her images.
