Not all of the Auckland Festival of Photography exhibitions live in fancy galleries; stop in for a coffee at your favourite café and you may well find yourself inadvertently attending a show.
Such is the case at Ponsonby’s stalwart café One2One (located, appropriately, at 121 Ponsonby Road) where photographer James Marshall has been snapping the various musicians who have drifted through the little venue over the years.
Once known as Atomic Café, the cosy brick-walled nightspot has been a consistent part of Ponsonby’s café culture for some 18 years and seen its fair share of local music luminaries. While maneuvering around patrons to eyeball each of the displayed photos can be a tad awkward, sitting and sipping surrounded by over a decade’s worth late night gigs makes for a unique cup of coffee.
For those who couldn’t make it to One2One, here is a brief look at what you missed.
