News: Photojournalism in Tehran

iran

In light of the extraordinary events currently taking place in Iran, we’re posting a slightly different piece of D-Photo news today.

Following national elections last Friday, the re-election hardline president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been subject to serious accusations of large-scale vote rigging – Ahmadinejad claimed an unlikely 66 per cent of the vote just hours after polls closed.

Right now, massive protests are taking place in the country’s capital, Tehran, in support of the reformer candidate Mir Hossein Mousav. Some reports claim up to 500,000 protestors are in the streets.

A stunning collection of images of the historic event as captured by photojournalists in Iran is currently online, and can be viewed here.
