Destination Rotorua Tourism Marketing (DRTM) is offering local photographers a chance to look at Rotorua with fresh eyes and be in to win $1000 cash.
The Spirit of Rotorua Photography competition initiative came about after Destination Rotorua Tourism Board chairman Warren Harford saw the results of a similar competition run by Destination Fiordland and thought the idea worth replicating here.
Amateur and professional photographers who live within the Rotorua ratepayer boundaries are eligible to enter work they have taken in the past year. Entries must be submitted to RAVE between 10am and 5pm on March 2. The photographs will then be judged and all category winners (and as many others as possible) exhibited at RAVE from March 10 to 21 during the arts festival.
Judging will be done by a panel of four, led by celebrated New Zealand photographer Ans Westra of Wellington. The other three are Daily Post chief photographer Stephen Parker, Wairakei Institute of Technology photography tutor Alex Wilson, and Jill.
The photography compettition is being run in conjunction with the Rotorua Camera Club, RAVE, Rotorua District Council and DRTM.
