It’s official: Canon announced this morning that its popular range of SuperZoom cameras will be refreshed this month, releasing two new models in the SX Series – the SX20 IS and the SX120 IS!
Both lightweight ‘bridge’ cameras and one of the most successful categories for the company, the new models both feature Canon’s patented DiG!c colour processing, optical image stabilisation technolgy, TruCapture and intelligent auto functions.
The 12.1 megapixel SX20 IS features a 20X zoom on a wide-angle lens, a 2.5-inch vari-angle LCD screen, while introducing HD movie recording capabilities complete with stereo sound.
“The PowerShot SX20 IS is ideal for travelling and action shots. The impressive 20x zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer allows you to get a crisp, clear shot even at a distance,” commented Canon New Zealand brand manager, Rochelle Mora. “With the addition of High Definition movie recording with stereo sound, users can take their creativity to the next level.”
The second model, the SX120 IS features a slightly more modest 10X optical zoom and a 3-inch screen. Designed to appeal to photographers of any skill level, the SuperZoom includes both intelligent auto and manual modes.
“This versatility makes it a great camera for families to explore and develop their photography skills,” says Mora.
Canon assures D-Photo that while retail prices are yet to be confirmed, the cameras will be available in New Zealand in the coming weeks.
