News: E-P2 Revealed

Just a few months after releasing its first micro four-thirds camera, Olympus has dropped the E-P2, claimed to be the world’s smallest camera with an interchangeable lens.

The slim 12.3-megapixel camera shoots HD video and accommodates a detachable electronic viewfinder and an external mic. The new VF-2 viewfinder attaches via a hot-shoe, providing a 1.15x magnification for a purported 100 per cent field of view. Other improvements from the E-P1 include continuous autofocus and a movie mode at 30fps in 720p that allows users to control aperture and shutter speed.1482_overview1

Along with the new camera, two new lenses designed specifically for the micro four-thirds system are to be released by Olympus early next year. Both the new super wide-angle zoom M. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm f4.0-5.6 lens (18-36mm equivalent) and high-power wide to telephoto zoom M. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 lens (28-300mm equivalent) are engineered to be light, while utilising extra-low dispersion glass elements to suppress colour aberration.
