Canon has launched the PowerShot D10, its first waterproof digital compact camera. It claims to be able to go anywhere, from surfing to snorkling, skiing to mountaineering, the PowerShot D10 is designed to accompany users on every adventure – it’s waterproof to 10m, can withstand the shock of a drop onto a hard surface from 1.22m, is dustproof and will function at temperatures as low as -10 degrees. In addition, there are a range of optional protective accessories available. The camera has a 12.1MP sensor, 3x optical zoom and a 2.5″ LCD, and includes Smart Auto Mode, Face Select & Track, Blink Detection and Face Self-timer.
Pricing and availability
The PowerShot D10 is slated for retail release in May in the US priced at US$329. Let’s hope that it will be available in New Zealand around then too in time for whatever outdoor adventures winter may have in store.
